Administration Settings' history

In MKG, it was not possible to track changes to administration settings historically. This made it difficult to determine when a setting was changed, which user or action caused the change, and what the previous value of a setting was. This could lead to situations where settings appeared to have been changed unexpectedly (for example, after an update or configuration change), without this being easily traceable. To improve this insight, we have added a history functionality for administration settings.

The 'History' Form

On the new 'History' form, changes to administration settings will be visible: in MKG3 via the form 'History (8301)', and in MKG5 via 'History (8302)'. Fields containing passwords or other sensitive information will not be stored in the history. For each change, a history record is created including, among other things:

  • Field: Description
  • Value before: The original value of the setting
  • Value after: The new value of the setting
  • Description before: The description associated with the old value
  • Description after: The description associated with the new value
  • Administration: The administration to which the change relates
  • Fiscal Year: Fiscal year if the setting is fiscal year dependent

For changes to process settings, the process name is also displayed in square brackets in the display value.

Please note!
Changes to administration settings are tracked from the moment this version is installed.
