How to Set Up Public Holidays

In the Public Holidays table you enter all public holidays per calendar year. A description and a date can be entered. This article shows how to organize the public holidays and what you should pay attention to when working on a public holiday.

The Public Holidays table contains all public holidays. Over the years the table will continue to fill up. The history is preserved and can be replenished every year. If you work with Planning in MKG, the available capacity on the entered public holidays will automatically be reduced to 0 hours (so not available) .

By using a date filter with the Provisional Processing action in the View Hours Action List - you set a specific period of one or more days - the action list actively checks whether someone should have worked according to the linked schedule. If the already entered public holiday falls in the period of a date filter with which the hours are checked, you can easily assign the ‘Public Holiday’ operation to that day for processing the time registration. In addition, MKG will perform a different calculation for overtime for a public holiday.

Please note!
If employees are working on a public holiday, this is seen as extra time. This time is not actively scheduled (so it serves as a reserve).

Public Holidays Administration Settings

Check the administration settings. With the ‘Operation Public Holiday’ setting select the correct operation code, you will need the 'Working Hours Overtime Type' setting if someone is working on a public holiday. Use an overtime type that is not yet used in the active schedules, so that these hours are registered separately.
