Adding translations to data

MKG is used in different countries and languages, and even within a company, users may have different preferred languages. To facilitate internationalization, it is now possible to add translations to data. This allows you as a user to read and search table contents in your own system language, according to translations provided by MKG and/or customized by yourself. And when documents need to be sent to customers, you can send the data in the customer's language.

Previously, separate payment terms, delivery terms, and shipping methods were created and filled in the user's language per customer in the system. The enhancement we have now added reduces the manual effort required to maintain and use these tables in different languages. This is convenient for users, as you no longer need to think about which language should be applied.

 

 

Configuration

 

The ability to add translations to data has been added in the modules Payment Terms, Delivery Terms, and Shipping Methods. The Detail in these modules contains the 'Translations' tab where you can view and edit translations. Changes can be made by any user authorized by an administrator.

 

 

Usage

 

1. Go to the module Shipping Methods.
2. Select a row, for example 'Own Transport'.
3. Go to the Detail and click on the 'Translations' tab. Here all languages configured in the Language Codes module are displayed.
4. Ensure the fields Description and Memo are present on the tab. You can add these fields using the Field Chooser (right-click in the list » List Settings » Field Chooser...). Or, if you already have a view 'Memo + description', you can open it via the Views button

5. Now you can fill in the fields Description and Memo per language for the record you have selected. You can also leave the fields empty.
6. Add translations for all desired rows, languages, and fields.
7. Do the same for the modules Payment Terms and Delivery Terms.

When creating new sales orders, delivery notes, sales invoices, sales quotations, and purchase orders, the fields Payment Term, Delivery Term, and Shipping Method are now displayed in the language in which you use MKG. You can also search in those fields using the translated terms.

 

Set the language of the preview display In a sales order, sales quotation, or purchase order, you can select a language on the 'General' tab in which this order should be shown in the preview display.

 

 

Fields containing information about payment terms, delivery terms, and shipping methods used in communication to the customer (for example on an order confirmation, delivery note, invoice, or quotation) are now translated into the language set on the sales order/quotation (default is the language of the debtor) or purchase order (default is the language of the creditor).

If you do not fill in translations, the fields will be displayed everywhere in Dutch as they have been until now.

 

Please note! The system language is the language in which the user uses MKG. You can select this language at the bottom left of the screen.
