Configure SharePoint Integration in MKG
Requirements
App Registration in Microsoft Entra
An app registration in Entra is required. Follow the instructions described in the article SharePoint Integration in Entra: Technical Setup. For a successful connection, the following data from the app registration must be available and shared with the person configuring the connection in MKG:
- Tenant ID
- Client ID
- Client secret
- Expiration date of the secret (client secret)
- Site ID of the relevant SharePoint site
Security Groups in Entra
For proper functioning of the SharePoint connection within MKG, it is required that one or more security groups are set up in Microsoft® Entra. These groups are linked to document categories in MKG and determine which documents are visible and accessible to users.
Access to the MKG Environment
To configure an app registration within the MKG application, it is necessary for the user to have the 'administrator' property. This role provides access to the settings where external connections can be registered. An administrator can enter the required data, such as the Tenant ID, Client ID, and Client Secret, and has the authority to activate and manage the connection. Because this action affects data exchange and security within MKG, it is important that it is performed by a user with sufficient rights and insight into the technical and functional impact of the integration.
Configuration of Entra App Registration in MKG
Follow the steps below to create an app registration that allows MKG users to save or consult documents via the UI (user interface) in combination with SharePoint.
Step 1: Log in
Open the MKG client and log in with a user who has the 'administrator' role.
Step 2: Configure the Administration Settings
Open the Administration Settings and choose the form 'Sharepoint (8302)'. Enter the data from the app registration in Microsoft® Entra as follows:
- Client ID: enter the unique identification code of the registered application.
- Tenant ID: enter the ID of the Microsoft® 365 tenant where the app is registered.
- Secret Value: enter the generated client secret associated with the app registration.
- Expiration Date: enter the expiration date of the secret. This must match the validity set in Entra (e.g., 01-01-2026).
- Site: enter the unique site ID of the SharePoint site to be linked.
- Folder: select the folder within the SharePoint site where the documents can be stored.
Check that all fields are filled in correctly. Then click Save to activate the connection.

Configuration of Entra Security Groups on MKG Document Categories
Through the steps below, you can link security groups from Microsoft® Entra to document categories within MKG. This link determines which users have access to documents that fall under a specific category.
Step 1: Select the Document Category
Open the module Document Categories. Here you see the existing categories. Select an existing category or add a new one.
Step 2: Select the Security Group(s)
In the field SharePoint Groups, a drop-down is displayed with all available security groups from the linked Entra environment. Through multi-select, one or more groups can be chosen to have access to documents within this category.
Step 3: Activate the Link
Check if the correct groups are selected and then click Save. If no groups are visible, this may indicate that no 'Security' type groups are present in the Entra environment, or that the app registration is incomplete.

Configuration of Users
Files in SharePoint are opened online by default, but this can also be done locally. To configure this, the following fields must be filled in for each user:
- Entra User: the email address of the respective user.
- Local SharePoint Folder: the location of SharePoint as it is synchronized for that user. Example:
C:\Users\[USER]\[COMPANY]\[FOLDER]
